Looking at the places left to see and our schedule for the next few days, today was the best day to head up North to the Dole Plantation and North Shore. Also checking the weather report, it looked like this was the best day to see bigger waves.

At the Dole Plantation, we walked around the gift shop and watched the pineapple cutting presentation. Apparently the few things you’d have to look for on a good pineapple is the eyes are about the same size, the bottom of the pineapple isn’t brown, and if there is a strong pineapple smell it may be overly ripe. We had some pineapple ice cream and then strolled around the area. The pineapple maze and the tour around the plantations cost money. With the ground wet after yet another rainy day, we decided to skip out of the pineapple maze as the ground was quite muddy.

Next, we headed to North Shore. After driving along the north shore, we found the best place possible and parked the car. We pulled out the beach towel and relaxed here for a good few hours as we watched surfers ride the wave. The longer we stayed, the better the weather had gotten.

After watching and relaxing, we hit up Haleiwa, a small town close to North Shore. We had the famous shaved ice here. It definitely wasn’t like the Tawainese shaved ice, but it was more like the North American style ones, but definitely better tasting. We then hit up Macky’s for some more shrimp. Apparently Macky’s is the best shrimp truck in Oahu and he looks cool.

It was close to 5pm and we decided to head back to Honolulu as we had to pick up Amy’s aunt. We stopped off at a mall close to her work place and bought the Guitar Heroes III for Xbox 360 as they didn’t have it for the wii.

After picking up Amy’s aunt and having dinner, we drove out to Waikiki to meet up with Amy’s friends.
